A team from Accident Claims Lawyers will sacrifice sleep and brave blisters next month as part of a marathon effort to provide comfort to those regional families with a seriously ill or injured child in Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).

The squad of specialist solicitors and business development staff has signed up to complete the Up All Night walk – a 42km, from dark-to-dawn, circuit of Perth – on behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia (RMHC WA).
By committing to lace up for a late shift and collect sponsorship, the Accident Claims Lawyers walkers will help to raise vital funds for a home-from-home facility providing urgent accommodation and support for families with seriously ill and injured children.
Located within Perth Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House boasts 14 comfortable bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen for the preparation of daily meals, and the provision of learning and play activities for patients and their siblings.
The nocturnal nature of the Up All Night challenge, which takes place on 26 November 2022, is intended to give those taking part a sense of understanding of the round-the-clock turmoil endured by worried parents.
Simon Shaw, commercial director at Accident Claims Lawyers, says it is a lesson already familiar to those working in the field of serious injury law.
“Due to the nature of our business and the close relationships we forge with our clients, we are unfortunately all too aware of how catastrophic the impact of things like road traffic accidents can be for families,” explained the father-of-two.
“A serious injury to a child ripples through and affects entire households; parents need to take time off work and siblings have to miss school.
“The logistics and expense of finding somewhere to stay and be close to a loved one is an added stress families just don’t need, so we are only happy to do our bit to assist Ronald McDonald House in shouldering some of that burden.”
The marathon-distance walk will be the latest milestone of Accident Claims Lawyers’ relationship with the charity.
While RMHC WA gives seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families – the Perth-based firm ensured residents were not left in short supply of Christmas cheer over the festive season.
In the run up to the holiday, Accident Claims Lawyers launched an appeal for presents which saw staff and clients donate more than 70 items – ranging from Kindles to soft toys and board games – to the home-from-home.
